having a Resounding Experience, "Dracula" style!
"Kiss Me With Those Red Lips"
Created by Jena Ellenwood
This recipe incorporates ingredients from each of the locations (Amsterdam, Gibraltar, Varna, England) mentioned in "Dracula" and marries them into something you can make at home without too much effort or hard-to-find ingredients. The woody bourbon is perfect because you'll need some wooden stakes to fight off vampires in your ears. This recipe is also great because (evil laugh) you'll be left with an open bottle of wine to enjoy during the show.
2 oz Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Bourbon (may sub rye whiskey for spice notes)
3/4 oz Spiced Honey Syrup (recipe below)
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
Combine in shaker, add ice and shake. Serve either up or on the rocks, and then, using the back of a spoon slowly pour:
1/2 oz Spanish Red Wine Float (we used Garnacha)
Spiced Honey Syrup:
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup honey
3 cinnamon sticks
3 allspice berries
Pinch grated ginger
Pinch nutmeg (fresh grated is best)
1 star anise
Combine spices and water and bring to a boil, reduce heat and stir in honey. Remove from heat and allow to cool. For best flavor, steep at least 4 hours or preferably overnight. Strain to remove spices and store in fridge.
